Saints Outplayed in Every Aspect of the Game Today

September 14th, 2008 by Chris H.

Saints 24, Redskins 29

The stats say it all, but the top 3 reasons the Saints lost today were:

  1. Inability to get the running game going.
  2. 3 turnovers
  3. Saints defense got scored on almost every time the redskins got the ball.

In the beginning I was glad to see we were holding them to field goals, but the problem was the field goals kept coming. We even got lucky when the Redskins missed 2 early on. Is this last year’s defense?

Saints’ defense got their ass handed to them today. I know we have injuries but if this is a sign of things to come- we will have a recap of last year. Why cant we get a good defense?

Take heart - this week should be better. Saints match up well with the Niners, and have beaten them 4 straight times since 2002. Weird stats of the week: Since 2002, Saints are 18-6 (75%)ATS after games in which they averaged more than 10 yds per punt return. Niners are 13-31 (30%) ATS after games in which they made less than 2 FGs.
