Saints return to New Orleans: Win First Game - Monday Night Football
Saints 20, Falcons 3
Incredible. The dome was rockin last night! I’ve never been a part of a crowd so electrified. I think I lost my voice after the first 5 minutes. From the blocked punt to the last field goal of the game the Saints played with more enthusiasm than I’ve seen in years. In particular, the defense played a near perfect game with help from almost every player. The Falcons had only one successful long passing play when one of their receivers got past McKenzie. Fred Thomas was AWESOME. The combination of their effort and the Falcon’s bumbling receivers left the Falcon’s offense inept.
The only areas I’d like to see our guys improve on were special teams play against the returns and blocking for our returns. The kick returns were a little lopsided in the Falcon’s favor. Although we didn’t need long passes in this game, Carolina could be a different story. Our red zone play could have been better, since we left excellent field position quite a few times with only a field goal. But I certainly don’t want to rain on this parade. These guys deserve all the praise they get this week from a grateful bunch of fans.
The Saints win gave this area a good injection of renewed faith and hope. Bless you boys! Keep the Faith! Who Dat? Cha-Ching!
